For newcomers looking for a dog or pet to adopt,
the Andalusia Animal Shelter, located at the old fair grounds on
River Falls street, has dogs of all shapes and sizes, and
usually more than a few cats and kittens as well.
The City of Andalusia has a leach law, and as a result, many
strays are picked up and taken to the animal shelter where they
can be adopted our or reclaimed by their owners - after paying a
fine of $15.
To get an animal out of the shelter, visit the facility during
the business hours, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through
Friday. And identify the pet, or pick out the one you would like
to adopt. Workers will give you a slip to be taken to the City
Hall where you can pay the required fees. they will give you a
voucher and you will be able to go back to the shelter and pick
up your new pet.
Call (334) 222 8705 for more information. Everyone is urged to
spay and neuter their pets to reduce the number of homeless
animals.
